APC Debunks Eric Opah Disqualification Rumours, Confirms Eligibility for Abia Guber Primary
The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that governorship aspirant, Eric Opah, was disqualified from participating in the party’s governorship primary election scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, 2026.
In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the party described the publication as “false, baseless, misleading and mischievous,” stressing that it did not emanate from the leadership of the party at any level.
The party clarified that Chief Eric Opah remains a duly registered and qualified member of the APC and has not been disqualified from contesting in the forthcoming governorship primary election.
According to the statement, no official communication, directive, or decision has been issued by the national leadership of the party questioning Opah’s membership status or barring him from the race.
The APC further dismissed claims that the aspirant’s membership was not captured in the party’s online database, describing the allegation as mere speculation aimed at creating confusion, misleading the public, and sowing division within the party ahead of the primaries.
It noted that the party’s membership registration process accommodates various administrative procedures recognized by the APC, insisting that no aspirant can be disqualified based on anonymous social media reports and unverified claims.
The party therefore urged members, supporters, and the general public to disregard the report entirely and rely only on official communications from the appropriate organs of the APC.
Reaffirming its commitment to a credible process, the Abia APC stated that it remains focused on conducting a transparent, inclusive, and acceptable governorship primary election for party members.
