FG Revenue Allocations Spark Debate as States Receive Billions in Three-Month FAAC Disbursement
Abia Gets ₦47.9bn as New FAAC Data Highlights State Revenue Distribution
The release of recent Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) records has reignited discussions over the management of public funds by state governments, following the disclosure of allocations received by states over a three-month period.
According to the figures, Lagos State received the highest allocation of ₦200.21 billion, followed by Delta State with ₦143.41 billion, Rivers State with ₦123.96 billion, and Bayelsa State with ₦114.48 billion. Akwa Ibom rounded out the top five with ₦109.76 billion.
Other states that received significant allocations include Kano (₦75.04 billion), Oyo (₦68.98 billion), Jigawa (₦55.74 billion), Ondo (₦53.50 billion), and Katsina (₦52.58 billion).
Abia State received ₦47.90 billion during the period, placing it among several states that received allocations within the ₦40 billion to ₦50 billion range.
The figures have generated fresh public debate on the utilization of federal allocations by state governments, with some commentators arguing that attention should not be focused solely on the Federal Government when assessing governance and development challenges across the country.
Observers say the latest FAAC records could intensify calls for greater transparency and accountability in the management of public funds, as citizens increasingly demand evidence of how allocations are being translated into infrastructure, social services, and economic development at the state level.
The allocation figures were obtained from recently released FAAC records.
