OMPAN Courts ASOPADEC Partnership, Applauds Onyeike’s Transformational Leadership
Media practitioners seek collaboration as ASOPADEC moves to reshape public perception and deepen development impact
News Report:
The Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), Abia State Chapter, has lauded the General Manager of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), Ven. Dr. Joshua Onyeike, for what it described as exemplary leadership and impactful development strides across oil-producing communities.
The commendation came on Wednesday April 15th, when the executive and members of the association paid a courtesy visit to the ASOPADEC boss at the commission’s headquarters in Umuahia.
The visit, according to the delegation, was aimed at fostering a working relationship with the commission, gaining firsthand insight into its operations, and exploring avenues for strategic collaboration.
Speaking during the meeting, the Vice Chairman of OMPAN, Comrade Chika Nwabueze, who led the delegation, emphasized the need for synergy between the media and government agencies. He noted that OMPAN is well-positioned to amplify the commission’s programmes through its strong digital media network.
Nwabueze stressed that the association is committed to ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information, adding that closer collaboration would enhance public awareness of ASOPADEC’s interventions.
He further disclosed that OMPAN would be celebrating its 10th anniversary later this year and expressed optimism that ASOPADEC would be part of the milestone event.
Responding, the ASOPADEC General Manager, Ven. Dr. Joshua Onyeike, appreciated the visit and described the proposed partnership as both timely and strategic, especially in addressing what he termed persistent negative narratives surrounding the commission.
Onyeike noted that collaboration with OMPAN would help bridge the information gap and project a more accurate account of the commission’s activities, thereby correcting public misconceptions.
Highlighting some of ASOPADEC’s achievements, he listed rural electrification projects, construction of classroom blocks, provision of healthcare facilities, and road development initiatives targeted at improving the living conditions in oil-producing communities.
The ASOPADEC boss also revealed that his administration has introduced key reforms within the commission, including the refurbishment of its office complex, upgrade of public facilities, and the acquisition of the commission’s office land, which was previously held on lease.
He reaffirmed ASOPADEC’s readiness to partner with OMPAN and assured the association of the commission’s support in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by key officials of the commission, including the Special Assistant, Engr. Emeka Gberemako, Social Welfare Officer, Mrs. Amarachi Isaac Nwachukwu, as well as members of the Information Unit, among others.
