Eric Opah Still in the Race, Campaign Organisation Declares Ahead of APC Governorship Primary, Rallies Supporters

The Campaign Organisation of Eric Opah has dismissed reports suggesting that the governorship hopeful was disqualified from participating in the forthcoming governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State.

In a statement issued ahead of the APC governorship primary scheduled for May 21, 2026, the organisation described the publication as “panic-driven propaganda” allegedly orchestrated by individuals “afraid of imminent defeat” at the polls.

The statement, signed by the Director General of the campaign organisation, Chief Charles Ogbonna, maintained that Chief Eric Opah remains fully cleared and qualified to contest the party’s governorship primary election.

According to the campaign team, the APC National Working Committee had officially cleared all three governorship aspirants from Abia State, stressing that possession of a valid membership card obtained through the party’s e-registration portal remains a fundamental requirement for eligibility.

The organisation further recalled that during the pre-primary stakeholders’ meeting held at the new APC Secretariat in Abia, the State Working Committee confirmed that all governorship and House of Representatives aspirants successfully scaled through the screening process, while only one State House of Assembly aspirant failed the exercise.

The campaign described the renewed allegations against Opah’s membership status as a desperate attempt to mislead party faithful and discourage supporters from participating massively in the primary election.

Reaffirming confidence in the outcome of the exercise, the organisation urged members of the APC in Abia State to disregard what it termed “falsehood and propaganda,” insisting that Chief Eric Opah remains firmly in the race for the party’s governorship ticket.
