CityBoy Movement Unveils Abia Executive, Women’s Wing Ahead of 2027 Polls

The National Leadership of the CityBoy Movement (CBM) has inaugurated the Abia State Executive and Women’s Wing of the movement, formally commencing its operations across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration, held in Umuahia, brought together members of the CBM National Working Committee, state executives, women leaders and members of the movement from the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State.

Speaking at the event, the Director General of the movement, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, charged the newly inaugurated state leadership to strengthen the movement’s grassroots network across Abia.

Shoga urged members to expand the movement’s presence across all 17 LGAs, saying an effective grassroots structure would empower young Nigerians to play a greater role in politics and leadership.

He disclosed that the CityBoy Movement is targeting the mobilisation of more than 10 million votes from young Nigerians for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, while stressing the need to build a sustainable political platform beyond the election.

The Deputy Director General of the movement, Hon. Favour Abayomi, called for unity among members of the Abia chapter and urged the new executive to work closely with the State Director, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe.

Abayomi described Igbokwe as the recognised State Director of the movement in Abia and urged members to remain committed to the growth of the organisation.

In his remarks, Igbokwe said the Abia chapter would prioritise civic engagement, voter education, grassroots mobilisation and public enlightenment.

He said the movement’s core mission was to inform, engage and empower residents, particularly young Nigerians, by increasing their understanding of civic responsibilities, government policies and development initiatives.

Igbokwe also cited ongoing federal infrastructure and industrial development initiatives in the South-East, saying citizens needed adequate information to understand, engage with and benefit from such programmes.

He reaffirmed the chapter’s commitment to a statewide voter education and grassroots mobilisation campaign in support of President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The inauguration marks the commencement of full operations of the newly constituted Abia State Executive and Women’s Wing as the CityBoy Movement intensifies its grassroots activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
