Years After Driving Key Reforms, Sam Onuigbo Takes Seat on MOUAU Business School Board

Former member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Sir Sam Onuigbo, has been invited to participate in the inaugural meeting of the Governing Board of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) Business School.

According to an invitation letter signed by the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Professor Ursula N. Akanwa, the historic meeting is scheduled to hold on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 12 noon in the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room.

The inaugural board meeting is expected to deliberate on the operational framework of the newly established Business School, its strategic direction, academic and professional programmes, partnerships, as well as other critical issues necessary for the effective administration and growth of the institution.

In the invitation made available to Dailytrailnews.com, the University said Onuigbo’s appointment to the Governing Board is in recognition of his wealth of experience, distinguished accomplishments, and invaluable contributions to education, administration, business, industry, and national development. The University expressed confidence that his participation would enrich the Board’s deliberations and contribute significantly to the realization of the vision of the MOUAU Business School.

It would be recalled that Rt. Hon. Sam Onuigbo has played a commendable role in the growth and development of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

Among his notable interventions was his support for the relisting of previously delisted management courses in the institution. The restoration of those programmes is widely regarded as a critical step that paved the way for the establishment of the MOUAU Business School, as the School would not have been feasible without the reinstatement of the management courses.

His inclusion on the Governing Board is therefore seen by many stakeholders as a fitting recognition of his longstanding commitment to the advancement of higher education and institutional development at the University.
