Tinubu’s Tax Reform Laws will harmonize revenue for public good – Onuigbo
Member representing southeast on the board of the North East Development Commission Rep Sam Onuigbo has reiterated his commendation for President Bola Tinubu on the enactment of the Tax Reform Laws, describing the move as having the potential to harmonize tax revenues and harness them for public good and benefit.
Onuigbo; a former House of Rep member for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency made the assertion during the 62nd Inaugural Lecture of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, which had the Lecturer, Prof John Uzoma Ihendinihu, speak on the topic, “Entropy of Injustice: A Derivative of Thermodynamics in Tax Administration”.
The Sponsor of the Nigerian Climate Change Act 2021 which was assented to by the then President Late Muhammadu Buhari, appreciated the Inaugural lecturer Professor Ihedinihu, stressing that the lecture aligns with President Tinubu’s idea of a tax system devoid of corruption and injustice, as he reiterated his call for revenues to be utilized in a transparent manner by those in leadership positions for the benefit of the people.

Earlier in his lecture, the MOUAU 62ND Inaugural Lecture Prof Ihendinihu called for the institutionalization of tax reforms as the major solution to tax injustice and corruption, as he commended President Tinubu for the tax reform laws stressing that this would address the previous harsh tax burden borne by ordinary Nigerians, and called for thorough implementation to achieve public good.

Prof Ihendinihu also commended Rep Onuigbo for making spirited efforts with relevant authorities in seeing to the relisting of hitherto delisted management courses at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, describing it as a restoration of hope during a time of academic challenge and turbulence.
