2027: APGA Chairman Declares Option A4 for Abia Primaries as Nwachinemere Joins Umuahia South Race

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair and credible primary elections ahead of the 2027 polls, declaring that the party remains committed to strengthening internal democracy.


The State Chairman of APGA in Abia, Ambassador Sunday Onukwubiri, made this known at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia while receiving an aspirant for the Umuahia South State Constituency seat, Nwosu Nwachinemere, who formally presented his expression of interest and nomination forms to the party leadership and members of the State Working Committee (SWC).


Speaking during the event, Onukwubiri stated that APGA has consistently distinguished itself in the conduct of transparent internal electoral processes, adding that the party would adopt the open ballot system, popularly known as Option A4, during its forthcoming primaries.


He urged aspirants seeking elective positions under the platform of the party to remain committed and work hard ahead of the primaries.


The APGA chairman further disclosed that the party would field candidates for all elective positions in Abia State, ranging from the governorship to the State House of Assembly seats, dismissing contrary reports making the rounds in some quarters.


According to him, APGA remains fully prepared to participate actively in the 2027 general elections across all levels in the state.

Earlier while addressing journalists, Hon. Nwachinemere assured constituents that he would offer purposeful and people-oriented representation if elected into the Abia State House of Assembly.


The frontline APGA aspirant who came in the company of his wife, identified insecurity in Umuahia South and other parts of Abia as one of the major issues he intends to tackle through effective legislative engagement and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

He also stressed the need for inclusive empowerment programmes, arguing that empowerment initiatives in many communities have largely focused on women and youths while neglecting men.


Nwachinemere maintained that men in Umuahia South must equally benefit from empowerment opportunities and development programmes, insisting that balanced inclusion remains key to sustainable community growth.
