The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the founder of Gregory University Uturu and the party’s 2023 governorship candidate in the state, Professor Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe, OFR.
In a condolence message, the state chairman of APGA, Elder Ambassador Sunday Onukwubiri, described the late professor as a man with a golden heart, an accomplished educationist and a pillar of the party in Abia State.
Onukwubiri said Professor Ibe was more than a politician, noting that his commitment to education and humanitarian service gave hope to thousands of people, particularly through scholarships awarded to more than one thousand Abians.
He described the deceased as a father, mentor and leader whose humility and dedication to the development of others would remain an enduring part of his legacy.
The APGA chairman said the death of Professor Ibe was a monumental loss to Abia State and the party, which he noted had lost one of its strongest pillars.
He extended the party’s condolences to the royal family of HRH Eze Cyril Ibe of Amaokwe Achara, Uturu Community, the immediate family of the deceased, including his children and grandchildren, as well as the entire Gregory University community.
