Abia 2027: Ugba Joins Governorship Race, Vows to Unseat Otti
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olugu Kalu Ugba, has formally declared his ambition to contest the Abia State governorship election after obtaining the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms.
Speaking with journalists at the party’s state secretariat in Umuahia shortly after completing the process, Ugba expressed strong determination to unseat the incumbent governor, Alex Otti. He emphasized his readiness to leverage unity and collective effort across the state to improve the welfare of Abians.
Ugba pledged to operate an inclusive administration that accommodates all stakeholders, distancing his vision from what he described as a “one-man show” under the current government. He assured that no group or individual would be sidelined if elected.
He further praised the PDP for its culture of inclusivity, noting that such values would be replicated across Abia State under his leadership.
Addressing questions on his chances in what is expected to be a fiercely contested party primary, Ugba expressed confidence in emerging as the PDP flagbearer. He maintained that his candidacy is both viable and strong, insisting he stands a better chance than other aspirants.
Reaffirming his position, Ugba declared himself the authentic contender within the party, signaling readiness for the political battle ahead.
