Breastfeeding Week: Abia Govt commits to approving 6-month maternity leave for nursing mothers, 3 weeks for fathers
Wife of Abia State governor Mrs. Chidinma Otti has called for a 6 Months maternity leave for breastfeeding mothers to maintain an exclusive breast milk nutritional regime for their babies.
She made the call at the official launch of the 2025 world breastfeeding week on Tuesday the 5th of August at the mother and child hospital, Bende road Umuahia.
Mrs. Chidinma Otti equally called for a Six months paternity leave for fathers to enable them to support exclusive breast feeding of their babies.

The wife of the governor earlier in the day commissioned a renovated and retrofitted daycare center located within the state Judiciary complex. The facility was in a poor state before the intervention of the wife of the governor.
She further revealed that a day care center is presently under construction at the state secretariat to assist civil servants who are mothers.
