Since assuming office, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha has prioritised education and human capital development as key components of his legislative representation, combining investments in school infrastructure with scholarships, educational assistance and opportunities for students across Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency.

🏫 COMPLETED EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS

Several educational infrastructure projects have been completed, including:

✅ Reconstruction of the burnt-down Ofeme Community Central School, Ofeme, Ohuhu, Umuahia North.

✅ Construction of a new classroom block at Ibeama Primary School, Umuana Ndume, Ibeku, Umuahia North.

✅ Rehabilitation of two-storey classroom blocks at Girls Secondary School, Amazukwu, Ibeku, Umuahia North.

🚧 PROJECTS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Other educational interventions currently at various stages of construction and rehabilitation include:

🔹 Construction and rehabilitation of classroom blocks at Umunwanwa Community Primary School, Umunwanwa, Umuahia South.

🔹 Construction of two units of two-bedroom teachers’ quarters at Ohuhu Community Secondary School, Amaogwugwu, Umuhu Ohuhu, Umuahia North.

📚 ADDITIONAL EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS APPROPRIATED

Beyond the completed and ongoing projects, provisions have also been made for additional educational interventions, subject to the release of funds under the relevant budgetary provisions.

These include:

• Rehabilitation of Afugiri Primary School.
• Rehabilitation of Research Model Primary School, Umudike.
• Rehabilitation of Mbom Primary School, Ibeku.
• Rehabilitation of Ezeleke Primary School.
• Rehabilitation of Mission Hill Primary School.

These projects further demonstrate a commitment to improving the quality of educational infrastructure and creating better learning conditions for pupils and students across the constituency.

🎓 SCHOLARSHIPS AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT

Beyond physical infrastructure, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha has extended educational support to students through scholarship programmes, postgraduate assistance and other opportunities designed to ease the financial burden of education and promote academic advancement.

The interventions include:

🎓 700 tertiary scholarships for students across universities in Nigeria.

🎓 20 full scholarships at the Federal College of Education, Ofeme-Ohuhu.

🎓 64 educational assistance awards for students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

🎓 PhD educational assistance at Imo State University.

🎓 Full MSc study assistance for graduate students at the University of Lagos.

🎓 Full MSc study assistance at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

🎓 15 Federal Government opportunities secured for constituents.

Significantly, the 20 beneficiaries of the Federal College of Education, Ofeme-Ohuhu scholarship scheme have since commenced their studies, providing tangible evidence of how educational support can translate into real opportunities for young people.

The scholarship programme, which has been reported to benefit about 700 students across the constituency, underscores the importance attached to education as a tool for empowerment and sustainable development.
