Never Give Up On Your Dreams — Otti Inspires Women At Abuja Summit, Shares Journey To Power
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has urged women across the country not to abandon their dreams and aspirations, encouraging them to remain determined, resilient and focused in pursuit of meaningful and impactful lives.
Governor Otti gave the charge on Saturday at the WODDI Inspiring Women Summit held at Blanc Galleria, Abuja, with the theme: “PUSH – Position Until Something Happens.”
Speaking at the summit organised by the Women of Divine Destiny Initiative (WODDI), founded by Mrs. Zinaria Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, wife of former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Governor Otti said persistence remains the key to success.
Drawing inspiration from his personal political journey, the Governor recounted how he contested elections in 2015 and 2019 without success before eventually emerging victorious in 2023.
“There is something Dr. Linus Okorie said which resonates with me — never, ever give up,” Otti stated.
“So, for the women, never give up. Don’t accept no for an answer. If you try and fail, try, try and try again.
“If I didn’t run again in 2023, would I be here today? So, if you have a dream, hold on to your dream and never give up,” he added.
Governor Otti also encouraged women to embrace continuous learning, stressing that growth and knowledge acquisition are lifelong pursuits.
“Any day you stop learning, you are dead. You can never know everything,” the Governor noted.
On the summit’s theme, “PUSH – Position Until Something Happens,” Otti explained that positioning should not be mistaken for remaining static, but rather understanding changing realities and adjusting strategically to achieve set goals.
He further commended the convener for redefining empowerment through sustainable initiatives that equip women and vulnerable groups with skills for self-reliance rather than temporary handouts.
According to him, “This is beyond giving people fish; it is about teaching people how to fish and ensuring sustainability.”
Governor Otti also praised Mrs. Okorocha for authoring three books unveiled during the event by Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, while encouraging Nigerians to revive the reading culture.
Speaking at the summit, Senator Rochas Okorocha described his wife as a compassionate woman whose greatest joy lies in serving humanity.
In her remarks, the founder of WODDI, Mrs. Zinaria Okorocha, said the initiative was built on the belief that every woman possesses strength, purpose and untapped potential deserving of support and expression.
The summit attracted dignitaries including representatives of the wife of the Vice President, diplomats, wives of former governors and senators, as well as influential women and leaders from different sectors across the country.
