APGA Accuses Abaribe of Plotting Fake Expulsion Letter to Justify Defection
The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has accused the senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe, of allegedly attempting to procure a fraudulent document to justify his defection from the party.
In a press release signed by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Barrister Chukwuemeka Nwokoro, and made available to Dailytrail news, APGA claimed that the senator has been making secret moves to recruit individuals who are no longer members of the party, including those who were suspended or had resigned, to produce a “purported letter indicating that he was sacked from the party in September 2025”.
According to the party, the alleged move is aimed at supporting claims already presented to the Nigerian Senate that he was expelled from APGA, a claim the party insists is false.
The Abia APGA leadership maintained that Senator Abaribe was neither expelled nor suspended but voluntarily resigned from the party on December 30, 2025, submitting his resignation letter to the chairman of Ahiaba Ward Five in Obingwa Local Government Area.
The party questioned why the senator would submit a resignation letter months after allegedly being expelled, saying the action contradicts the claim he made before the Senate.
APGA further stated that it has uncovered what it described as secret efforts by the senator’s associates in the past 48 hours to obtain a document that could be presented to the Senate as proof of his expulsion.
While maintaining that the party has no internal crisis that could justify defection under constitutional provisions, APGA warned individuals allegedly involved in the matter to desist from what it described as fraudulent activities or face consequences.
The party also advised Senator Abaribe to refrain from actions capable of bringing what it described as “further embarrassment to himself”.
