Abia State Government has signed a memorandum of Understanding with the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).

This comes following a series of meeting between both parties to resolve issues leading up to the strike action embarked upon by the workers union.

In a release signed by the commissioner for information Prince Okey Kanu all differences in the implementation of the Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure (CONJUSS) have been resolved while the agreed additional amount to be paid to JUSUN is being processed for remittance.

Consequently the state Government has called on JUSUN to call off the ongoing strike immediately to pave the way for the reopening of the courts in Abia.

JUSUN is to convene a congress as soon as possible to officially call off the industrial action.

Government officials who participated in negotiations with JUSUN executives are the Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna; Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Uwaoma Ukandu; Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Labour Relations, Godson Anucha; Permanent Secretaries of the ministries of Finance and Justice; and Directors of Finance from relevant ministries.
