I’m Still in the Race — Lucky Igbokwe Dismisses Withdrawal Rumours Ahead of Reps Primaries
A House of Representatives aspirant for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Lucky Obinwa Igbokwe, has dismissed reports alleging that he has stepped down from the contest, describing the claims as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
In a press release issued by his media office, Mayor Igbokwe maintained that he remains fully in the race and has neither withdrawn from the contest nor entered into any agreement to abandon his aspiration ahead of the party primaries.
The statement accused unnamed political actors of spreading fake information on social media in a bid to mislead the public, create unnecessary tension, and confuse supporters across the constituency.
According to the release, Mayor Igbokwe remains committed to offering quality representation, inclusive leadership, and people-oriented service to constituents of Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituency.
The media office also addressed ongoing conversations surrounding zoning and equity within the constituency, insisting that no official position of the party has exclusively zoned the House of Representatives seat to Umuahia North or micro-zoned it to Ohuhu, contrary to claims being circulated in some quarters.
The statement further argued that political offices within the constituency have historically rotated among different blocs without crisis or hostility, noting that no objections were raised when both the governorship position and the Abia Central Senatorial seat were occupied by candidates from Ibeku.
The camp of the aspirant therefore urged party faithful, delegates, supporters, and the general public to disregard the withdrawal rumours and remain focused on issue-based politics ahead of the primaries.
The release concluded by reaffirming that Mayor Lucky Obinwa Igbokwe is continuing consultations across the federal constituency with the aim of securing the party’s ticket and providing what it described as purposeful and effective representation for the people.
