“August Meetings, celebration of unity, culture, commitment to community development” – Princess Onuigbo, champions N20m fundraising for hall rehabilitation project
The annual August meetings provide the forum for bonds to be strengthened, women to be empowered, pressing community matters addressed as well as initiation of projects that have the capacity to positively impact lives in the community.
This was made known by the National President, Obuohia, Obi-Ibere Development Union, (ODU), women’s Wing Pastor Princes Chinyere Onuigbo in Ikwuano LGA of Abia state during their 2025 annual August meeting with the Theme: Community Engagement and Participation – “Women in Purposeful Transformation Social Justice and Advocacy”.
She further stated that the annual women’s summit has become not only a tradition but also a celebration of unity, culture, and commitment to community development.

Pastor Onuigbo; the wife of the ex-two term member of the House of Representatives for Ikwuano/Umuahia Rep Sam Onuigbo further tasked the women of her community to rise to the challenge posed to them by their dilapidating Hall, and do the needful to rehabilitate it as she announced the launching of a 20 million naira hall rehabilitation project stressing that if achieved, would serve as a womb for their communal life and a meeting point for community deliberations.

Her Husband, Sam Onuigbo, who presently serves as the South East Representative on the North East Development Commission Board, and who was represented at the occasion by his Chief Liaison Officer Abraham Osondu acknowledged that women of the community have been empowering the local economy and have become custodians of peace and harmony in communities, stressing that women unity engenders progress in any given society.

Onuigbo commended President Bola Tinubu and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the Renewed Hope Initiative, which he said has positively touched the lives of Nigerians across the country.

In their separate addresses/goodwill messages, the National President of ODU men wing, Chiedozie Atuma urged the women to ensure that their children do not involve themselves in criminal activities, while the Special Guest and Chairman Ikwuano LGA, Dr Anthony Nwaubani congratulated the women, saying that their commitment to community development has continued to inspire hope in Obuohia and beyond.
Dailytrail news reports that the event saw the outpouring of donation from different donors including the Chief-Launcher who donated 4 million naira and other outstanding donations with the aim of achieving the 20 million naira target.
The event also featured march past, drama, prize giving, cultural display amongst other fun activities.
