ABSOA DG Nwankwo decries increased cult activities in Abia owned tertiary institutions, says unruly practice destructive
The Director General, Abia State Orientation Agency, Pastor Dike Nwankwo has decried the increase of cult activities in higher institutions of the state.
Pst Nwankwo who spoke from his office noted the recent clash among different cult groups in Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), which took the life of a student, leaving the institution in a state of unrest. But for the immediate intervention of the state Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti who deployed security personnel to the institution to enforce tranquility; more lives would have been lost.
The Director General who recalled the sensitization on Anti-cultism and Drug Addiction organized by his agency in December 2023, stated that the essence is to curb the menace of drug addiction and cultism among youths of the state. He therefore enjoined all Abia citizens and residents especially youths in various institutions of higher learning to shun all practices of cultism and abstain from drug addiction, noting that these unruly practices are destructive.
He finally maintained that the reorientation and mind-shift initiative of this administration led by the Abia State Orientation Agency must be sustained as it’s impact is already been felt, and everyone is expected to key in.
The orientation boss thanked the people oriented Governor for taking immediate action in restoring calmness in the institution.
