UMEH KALU RAISES ALARM OVER ALLEGED THREAT TO LIFE BY ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT

The former Attorney General of Abia State Umeh Kalu has raised alarm again about threats to his life by principal officers of the State government and their agents.

Recall, that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria in May 2019 equally raised similar alarm accusing principal officers of the Abia State government of issuing threats directly and some through surrogates.

In a recent press release signed by Umeh Kalu himself and made available to Dailytrail, he revealed that the current threats to his life started after he accepted to prosecute a legal brief of Hon. Okey Philip Igwe, the former Deputy Governorship candidate to late Professor Uche Ikonne who is contesting his removal as the Running Mate to the recently nominated PDP governorship flagbearer in Abia State Chief Okey Ahiwe.

Kalu said he had in recent past made similar complaints to the Inspector General of Police IGP where he said he specifically mentioned principal officers of the State government that had issued him threats as he added that the threats evolve out of what he described as the misplaced belief of the State government officials, that he has the potential of exposing what he calls their serial acts of malfeasance, due to his long stay in the service of the Abia State government.

Umeh Kalu who is also the Abia State Coordinator of the Obi – Datti Presidential Campaign, called on security agencies to intervene and stated that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led government should be held responsible if anything happens to him stressing that his description by the governor as an enemy of the State heightened the threat on his life.
