DON LULU Joins Lagos Tourism Chief at Freedom Cup as Team Lagos Thrashes Team USA 4–1
The Director of the City Boy Movement in Abia State, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, joined the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Idris Aregbe, and other distinguished guests at the Freedom Cup Friendly Match held in Lagos.

Director, City Boy Movement, Abia State Chapter said the football event formed part of activities commemorating the 250th Anniversary of American Independence and featured a symbolic clash between Team USA and Team Lagos. The match celebrated the enduring friendship, cultural exchange, and diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the United States.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Idris Aregbe expressed appreciation to the United States Consulate General, led by Consul General Rick Swart, for bringing the Freedom Cup to Lagos. He noted that the initiative further strengthens Lagos’ reputation as Africa’s leading hub for culture, tourism, and entertainment.
On the pitch, Team Lagos delivered a commanding performance, defeating Team USA 4–1 in an entertaining encounter that underscored the unifying power of sports.
Beyond the result, the match highlighted sports as a vital platform for fostering international cooperation, cultural understanding, and people-to-people diplomacy.
Mayor Lucky Igbokwe commended the organisers for staging an event that promotes global friendship and strengthens bilateral relations through sports and cultural engagement. He also congratulated Team Lagos on their impressive victory while applauding both teams for their display of sportsmanship and competitive spirit.
The Freedom Cup concluded with participants and supporters celebrating together, reinforcing the event’s core message of unity, mutual respect, and collaboration among nations.
