Benjamin Kalu, Chinedum Orji, Onyejeocha Win APC Reps Primaries in Abia, Others Emerge Candidates
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced the winners of its House of Representatives primary elections across the eight federal constituencies in Abia State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Chairman of the Abia State National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Barrister Erasmus Cishak, announced the results on Saturday night at the APC State Secretariat in Umuahia, stating that the exercise was successfully conducted across the state.
According to Cishak, party members participated actively in the primaries to elect candidates who will fly the APC flag in the forthcoming general elections.
In Bende Federal Constituency, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, emerged unopposed as the party’s candidate.
Also returned unopposed was the Minister of State for Labour and Employment and former House of Representatives member for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Nkiruka Onyejeocha, who secured the APC ticket for the constituency.
In Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chinedum Orji, emerged victorious in the party’s primary election.
Other winners announced by the party include Hon. Chris Nkwonta for Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency, Hon. Uzor Azubuike for Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency, and Hon. Uzoma Theodore Uka for Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency.
The party also declared Hon. Udo Alozie winner of the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency primary, while Hon. Ikenna Nicholas clinched the APC ticket for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency.
Barrister Cishak commended party members and stakeholders for what he described as their peaceful conduct during the exercise, assuring that the committee upheld transparency, fairness and credibility throughout the primary process.
