2027 Abia Guber: Acclaimed Business Mogul Eric Opah Declares Ambition, Promises Industrial Revolution
“A golden fish has no hiding place,” and perhaps no better words could describe renowned entrepreneur and founder of Fortune Global, Chief Eric Opah, whose success in international transportation, shipping, aviation and oil and gas logistics has continued to distinguish him across Africa and beyond.
Upon his arrival at the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport, Imo State, Chief Opah who was recieved by mommoth crowd spoke with journalists as he formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Abia State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Opah said his aspiration was driven by the need to enthrone accountable governance, create jobs and accelerate infrastructure development in the state, noting that the current revenue inflow into the state was yet to translate into visible progress.
According to him, his ambition was not rooted in personal interest but in a clear vision to industrialise and unite Abia.
The entrepreneur, who has over 20 years of experience managing businesses across five countries, said his administration would focus on reviving moribund industries, branding Abia as a major trade hub and transforming the state into a centre for vocational education and manufacturing, as he assured workers that his administration would prioritise their welfare and ensure salaries are commensurate with government revenue.

From the Airport, the campaign train of the APC leading Aspirant moved to the party secretariat along Azikiwe Road, Umuahia, with a large crowd of supporters, where he was formally presented to party executives.
Addressing party members, the businessman stressed the importance of Abia aligning with the federal government for accelerated development, stressing that his government will unite the people and the political elite as governance cannot be separated from the political party.
He urged the party to support his aspiration for the overall good of all.

Receiving the aspirant, the Abia State Chairman of the APC, Chief Chijioke Chukwu, assured all aspirants of a level playing field and urged them to demonstrate capacity, competence and grassroots support.

He expressed dissatisfaction with what he described as lack of transparency in contracts handling in Abia state, stressing that the status quo must be challenged.

Earlier, APC chieftain, and the Director General, Chief Eric Opah Campaign Organisation, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, while presenting Opah to party executives, described him as a man of honour who has established himself in business in Africa and beyond, expressing confidence in his governorship aspiration.
