A former Commissioner for Trade and Investment in Abia state and Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in the state Chief Charles Ogbonnaya has thrown his weight behind the state Governor, Dr. Alex Otti’s decision to set up a Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the Recovery of Government Property and Funds belonging to the State as he called on well-meaning Abians to support the move by providing information to aid the success of the panel.

Recall that the State Governor, Otti last week inaugurated a five man Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the Recovery of Government Property and Funds belonging to the State with Hon Justice Ikwuoma Duruoha-Igwe (rtd.) as Chairman with the mandate to ensure recovery of government funds and property that have been taken away.

Speaking exclusively to Dailytrailnews.com, Ogbonna wondered why anyone would be against the recovery of the common patrimony of the people, as he gave instances of government property ceded out to private individuals without due process of public advertorials and other requirements.

He however kicked against the forceful retrenchment of workers in the state’s civil service under any guise noting that the government should rather give serious attention to ghost worker syndrome and dereliction of duty which he said was prevalent in the state’s Civil Service.
