Abia South 2023: INEC must conduct supplementary election- Labour Party Candidate Onyeizu

The Abia South Senatorial Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Chinedu Onyeizu has described the outcome of the February 25 National Assembly election in Abia South Senatorial zone as a travesty of justice.

Recall that the Returning officer for Abia South Senatorial election Professor Gorginia Ugwuanyi declared Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA as the winner of that election having polled 49,693 votes as against his closest rival Onyeizu of the LP who polled 43,903 votes and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the People’s Democratic Party who got 28,422 votes.

Speaking during Family Love program Open Parliament monitored by Dailytrailnews.com, Onyeizu expressed hope that the courts will help him in recovering what he described as his stolen mandate.

He further posited that the electoral body; the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC should always do their bits in ensuring the entrenchment of democracy especially during elections.

The LP Abia South Senatorial Candidate insisted on the conduct of supplementary election in about 108 polling units in the state where the election did not take place.
