Onuigbo Mourns Akeredolu, Na’Abba Says Former Governor, Lawmaker Lived Lives of Service

Member representing the South East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission, Rep. Sam Onuigbo, has described as painful, the death of the former Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu CON SAN. Onuigbo stated this in a condolence message released on Thursday afternoon, in Umuahia.


Recalling Akeredolu’s life of service first as a lawyer, President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Attorney General of Ondo State, and as Governor of Ondo State, Onuigbo said that while we mourn the demise of the former Governor, “…we must be grateful for the services he rendered to our great country, and celebrate him for the life he lived. “


Akeredolu died on December 27, 2023, in Germany, following a protracted battle with leukemia.


Meanwhile, Onuigbo has also mourned, the death of Ghali Umar Na’Abba CFR, former Speaker of the House of Representatives described the news as sad.


The ex-National lawmaker said Na’Abba was an exemplary leader whose brand of politics championed inclusivity, people-centric pathways, and accountability adding that Na’Abba’s death was a huge loss to Nigeria, and the people of Kano in particular.


“This is a huge loss for the country in general, and Kano in particular. He will be sorely missed by all of us. Ghali Umar Na’Abba was a true democrat who understood the principles of separation of powers and fought to preserve it, ” Onuigbo said.


Ghali Umar Na’Abba died at the age of 65 on December 27, 2023, at the National Hospital, Abuja.
