Revamping of hospitals in Abia is embarked upon to better handle the health needs of the people – Government

Abia state Government has reiterated that its resolve to ensure that health institutions in the state are renovated and revamped is to better handle the health needs of the people and favourably compete with their counterparts in terms of quality healthcare delivery and services.

This was made known by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity Ferdinand Ekeoma when he led Journalists on media tour of the Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Center Aba Road Umuahia and General Hospital Amachara.

Speaking on the resolve of the government of Dr. Alex Otti to revamp the health sector in Abia, Ekeoma said Abians should expect hospitals in the state to wear entirely new look to be able to cater for the health needs of residents of the state with modern hospital equipment and renovated structures and environment.

Ekeoma noted that the ongoing overhaul of medical facilities in the state will also extend to address the welfare of medical practitioners, stressing that medical staff under the employ of the state government will be properly remunerated in line with the promise of the governor to boost the morale of health workers to help them deliver topnotch healthcare services to Abians.

Speaking earlier, the Acting Chief Medical Director of the Abia State Specialist Hospital Dr. Agu Francis said the revamping going on at the hospital when completed will position the health facility to address different health issues including eye treatment and surgeries stressing that the hospital remains affordable even to poor and average Abians.

Dailytrailnews reports that speaking also while conducting newsmen around the equipment at the Eye center in the Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Special Duties Dr. Betty Emeka Obasi disclosed that the eye center can now attend to any eye problem, including surgery, as she noted that the governor is passionate in his resolve to prioritize the health needs of Abians by making available optimally functional health equipment and facilities across the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
