2023: Abia Women urged to take charge as PDP inaugurates Ugonmuta Movement

Women have been described as the foot soldiers who to a large extent decide who mounts the saddle of leadership in different positions of authority in Nigeria.


This was made known by the Ugonmuta women Movement Abia State, during her inauguration ceremony at the Ministry of Women Affairs Premises which saw the convergence of women from the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia state with the mandate to ensure the victory of all PDP candidates from top to bottom.


Speaking at the event, the President of the Ugonmuta women Movement Lady Uloma Hally Onuoha explained that the group came into being because of the need for women to prove their mettle in having a major stake in deciding who governs Abia in the next four years adding that the group will champion the course of having women foot soldiers in all the electoral wards of the state as well as play an active role in the forthcoming election.

Also speaking, the Secretary Ugonmuta women Movement and the immediate past Commissioner for Women Affairs Chief Mrs. Ukachi Constance Amala who was visibly elated pointed out that women were poised and meticulously working towards being a major part of the administration to come adding that the group which was birthed in September 2022 has the mandate of supporting all the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party with particular emphasis on the party’s gubernatorial candidate Professor Uche Ikonne.

Dailytrailnews reports that the event was attended by the wife the governor Dr Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs Mrs. Joy Rose Urenta, while lady Joyce Adiele represented the wife of the PDP Guber candidate Lady Uzoamaka Uche Ikonne. The PDP Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate Barrister Okey Igwe was at the event represented by Abia state Commissioner for Strategic Communication and Documentation Ugochukwu Emezue.
