After resigning from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and keeping out of party affiliation for six months, a former Abia PDP Chairman, Senator Emma Nwaka has eventually crossed over to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His confirmed defection has added to the number of top chieftains of PDP in Abia State that have continued to swell the ranks of APC, which has been making gains from the dissaffection within Abia PDP.

Nwaka had on June 12, 2024 “quietly resigned” his membership of PDP only to make it public later on August 30, 2024, citing “personal reasons”.

Confirming his defection to dailytrailnews on the phone, the former Abia North Senator said he was formally admitted into the APC family and issued a membership card of the party by his Oguduasa Ward 5 Chairman, Chief Sampson Ndukwe in the presence of the APC Chairman for Isuikwuato Local Government, Chief Udochi Okorie and other party officials.

Nwaka, who was in charge or Abia PDP between 2010 and 2015 piloted the affairs of the party when it completely dominated the political space in God’s own state.
