Onuigbo makes Semi-finalist on Orderpaper 9th Assembly most Valuable Parliamentarian
The inclusion of the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Hon. Sam Onuigbo to OrderPaper’s Most Valuable Parliamentarian (MVP) Hall of Fame as a semifinalist has been hinged on the Honourable Member being a distinguished and excellence-driven member of the National Assembly who has been able to deliver excellent services in his close to four years of the 9th National Assembly.
According to the Founder of the OrdbrPaper’s MVP Hall of Fame Initiative Oke Epia, Onuigbo who has been representing the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency for almost eight years now alongside others was chosen and shortlisted as part of the 25 men standing out of the 469 lawmakers at the National Assembly after critically reviewing their roles as lawmakers in the area of sponsorship and processing of bills.
Epia who said the event will hold on the 21st of May, in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja noted that the OrderPaper team used the combined metrics of evaluating sponsorship and processing of bills by these lawmakers to arrive at the present number of 25 semifinalists.
The Founder of Nigeria’s foremost independent parliamentary think-tank and policy multi-platform said the MVP Hall of Fame stands out in a way and celebrates excellence in legislative service delivery as exhibited by the likes of Rep Onuibgo hence the inclusion of his name adding that it is an invitation-only framework determined only by data crafted to celebrate those who have done extremely well and have been oufstanding in delivering legislative service to the country and their constituents.
Recall the Rep Sam Onuigbo among several other bills sponsored the Climate Change Bill which was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhani in mid-November 2021.
The Act amongst other things provides for the mainstreaming of climate change actions and the establishment of a National Council on Climate Change as well as paves the way for environmental and economic accounting and a push for a net zero emission deadline plan in the country.
