The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, and the Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general elections, Rep Sam Onuigbo, was one of the witnesses whom God chose to witness the enthronement of an illustrious son of Ikwuano, the Rt. Rev. (Dr.) Ikechukwu Emezi Nkulo, as the Bishop, Diocese of Umuahia East. The solemn enthronement ceremony was performed by His Grace, Most Rev. (Dr.) Chibuzo Raphael Opoko, the Archbishop of Umuahia.

Delivering the sermon on the topic: “A New Page,” Rt. Rev. Nkulo, drawing from scripture in Matthew 3:13-17, charged the congregation to take a cue from John the Baptist, who was bold and unafraid to preach the new page. “It is a new page for me” he declared, thanking all those who sacrificed time to come and witness this new page. He urged the congregation to always read something new and positive and not to only watch pictures.

The Archbishop of Methodist Church Umuahia, Most Rev. (Dr.) Chibuzo Raphael Opoko, while praying for Rep. Sam Onuigbo and other aspirants, used the opportunity to remind the congregation that they have a significant part to play in enthroning leaders with the fear of God at all levels of government, charging them to be actively involved in this task.

“It is no longer about party, but about the soul of the christian faith. Go and get your PVC, vote for God fearing leaders who have the interest of the people at heart, and make sure you defend your votes,” he said.

He urged the candidates to go and represent Christ, and not themselves or their party.

Speaking at the occasion, Rep. Onuigbo who graced the occasion with his wife, Pastor Princess Chinyere, could not contain his joy, as he described Bishop Nkulo as an illustrious son of Ikwuano who is known for his wisdom, intellect and a good sense of humor.

“You can see my joy and how excited and happy I am. Yes, I represent Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency of Abia State. At this juncture, it is important that I say it loud that Bishop Ikechukwu Nkulo is from Okwe Oboro which is in my own Local Government, Ikwuano. Let me specifically thank the Archbishops, the Bishops and the Lay Presidents, who deemed this illustrious son of Ikwuano worthy of being elected a Bishop at the Electoral College during their last Conference. On behalf of myself, my wife, the good people of great Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, and by the grace of God, Abia Central Senatorial District, I congratulate you and your family on this remarkable attainment. In the same vein, I also wish you a peaceful and successful tenure.”
