AFRIMA: Burna Boy, Kizz Daniel, others top nominations

Nigerian singers, Burna Boy, Kizz Daniel, Fireboy, Tiwa Savage and others have been nominated for the 2022 edition of the All Africa Music Awards.

Slugging it out with Burna Boy for Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, Song of the Year, Artiste of the Year are Fireboy and Kizz Daniel who were both nominated in the Best African Collaboration category.

Burna Boy was also nominated in the Song of the Year category.

Tiwa Savage, who was nominated for Best Female Artiste in Western Africa and Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African RnB/Soul, was also nominated in the Artiste of the Year and Best African Collaboration categories.

Ckay and Ruger, who were recognised in last year’s AFRIMA, also got nominations.

South African artiste, Costa Titch, led with six nominations for his 2021 smash hit, Big Flexa.

He got nominated in the Song of the Year, Breakout Artiste of the Year, Best African Collaboration, Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Electro, and Best Artiste, Duo or Group in Use of African Dance/Choreography categories.

Also with six nominations is Congolese maestro, Dadju, nominated in the Best Male in Central Africa, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Artiste of the Year, Best African Act in the Diaspora and Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series, or Documentary categories.

West Africa led the nominations on regional basis, with 134 nominations, representing 35 per cent while the Eastern African region followed closely with 69 nominations, representing 18 per cent.

The Southern African region raced closely with 68 nominations, representing 17.8 per cent; while Central Africa pulled in its weight with 52 nominations, representing 13.6 per cent. The Northern African region followed closely with 49 nominations, representing 12.8 per cent
