Onuigbo rallies stakeholders’ support for unity on calls for completion of Umuahia/Ikwuano/Ikot Ekpene road

Former Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency Sam Onuigbo, has reiterated the need for stakeholders to unite in the call for the speedy completion of the ongoing reconstruction of the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene Federal Road rather than proposal to return the project to the normal ministry funding which he says will not only derail the attainments made so far but also lead to unpleasant consequences that could result to more suffering by motorists and commuters.
Onuigbo, who represent the South East on the Board of the North East Development Commission, made the call in a Press briefing after a Stakeholders meeting in Umuahia aimed at addressing the historical and developmental challenges yearning for attention in the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency.
The former Rep Member who’s currently the chairman of the Security, Climate Change, and Special Interventions Committee on the NEDC Board recalled efforts by him to transfer the funding of the reconstruction work to special intervention agencies like the SUKUK Bond through writing to the then Hon. Minister Raji Fashola having observed the funding difficulties faced by the contractors of the project which he said yielded positive result as the Federal Government via an Executive Order approved the transfer of the sponsorship of the project to the NNPCL.
