Gregory University holds 13th Matriculation ceremony, tasks 554 new students on excellence in character, learning

Gregory University Uturu, Abia State has matriculated 467 undergraduate scholars across 13 colleges and 87 direct entry scholars for the 2024/2025 academic session in its 13th matriculation ceremony with a call on the students to shun cultism and other social vices capable of tarnishing the image of the citadel of learning.
This was made known by the Vice-Chancellor of GUU Prof. Cele Njoku, who at the 13th Matriculation Ceremony which held at the Goodluck Jonathan Auditorium GUU, on the 15th of February 2025, reiterated the university’s determination to produce graduates who have excellence in both character and learning.

Prof. Njoku urged the students to remain focused and adhere to the institution’s guiding principles stressing that morality and social values are the core of the institution as she warned against indecent dressing, cultism, and exam malpractice warning that violations will be met with commensurate punishment.

The Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Augustine Uwakwe, who read the address of the Chancellor Okechukwu Gregory Ibe Jnr congratulated the matriculating students, stressing that Gregory University was repositioning itself as a leader in the education sector, as he called on the students to seize every opportunity to join clubs, participate in research, embrace leadership roles and be part of the University’s transformative story.


The Special Guest of Honour at the event, wife of Abia Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adaeze Emetu congratulated the university management and students as she called on the students to remain focused and be good ambassadors of the state, assuring of the state government’s commitment to improve education in Abia.
