Stop demanding for Abia people’s PVCs, it’s illegal – Umuahia Mayor Enwereuzor blasts APC
The Mayor of Umuahia South Local Government Area, Hon. Chinedu Ewereuzo, has reacted to issues surrounding the APC e-registration exercise and allegations that he assaulted an official conducting the registration.
Recall that the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a communiqué issued at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting on Wednesday and read to journalists by Chief Chidi Nwosu accused the Umuahia South Mayor of harrassing and arresting an APC agent, identified as Chidera Emenike, while lawfully carrying out the party’s ongoing electronic revalidation and registration exercise at Ahiukwu Ward 1, Amizi–Olokoro, Umuahia South Local Government Area.
However, speaking during the Family Love FM’s Open Parliament, monitored by Dailytrailnews, Ewereuzo debunked the allegations, as he alleged that APC agents were going around demanding for people’s Permanent Voter Cards.
He clarified that he was not against the APC e-registration exercise currently being carried out, but insisted that in the process, the rights of the citizens must not be encroached upon as he strongly condemned the request for PVCs by political party agents in the course of their duties.
