South East Development Commission: Rep. Onuigbo Thanks President Tinubu, Commends Rt. Hon Kalu, others

Member representing the South East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Rep. Sam Onuigbo, has hailed the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s assent to the South East Development Commission (SEDC) Establishment Bill which was co-sponsored by the Deputy Speaker.

This was contained in a Press Statement signed by Rep. Onuigbo, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday night, following the signing into law of the Bill, by President Tinubu.

Onuigbo who commended other South East House of Representatives Members who co-sponsored the Bill and the Senators, said the establishment of the Commission concretizes President Tinubu’s commitment to an inclusive development of the South East post-civil war, and represents a genuine commitment towards addressing not only the insecurity in the region, but also the infrastructural decay which had hitherto plagued Ala Igbo.

He commended the Deputy Speaker for his exemplary leadership and unparalleled commitment towards the progressive development of the South East which first manifested in the launch and implementation of the Peace in the South East Project (PISE-P) and now the enactment of the law establishing a Commission charged with overseeing the holistic growth and development of the region.

The former National Lawmaker also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for showing again, his commitment to a united and prosperous Nigeria where no region is left behind.

The South East Development Commission (SEDC) Establishment Bill was co-sponsored by Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu and other South East representatives at the House of Representatives. It is intended to receive funding from the federation account for the development of the South East region of Nigeria.
