A prominent political figure in Abia State, Raymond Ofoegbu, popularly known as Onyinye Ohuhu, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing moral conviction and worsening socio-economic conditions across Nigeria.

Ofoegbu also called for more people-centered governance in Abia, insisting that while efforts are being made, the impact on ordinary citizens must become more visible and direct.

Speaking during Family Love FM’s Open Parliament, Ofoegbu assessed the current administration in Abia State, noting that the governor is making commendable strides but must intensify efforts to improve the living conditions of the common man. He emphasized that governance should not only be seen in policies and projects but felt in the daily lives of the people.

Speaking on his reasons for dumping the APC, Ofoegbu who is the founder Onyinye Ohuhu Foundation International, lamented what he described as deepening economic hardship, rising cost of living, and systemic neglect, noting that many Nigerians are struggling daily with little or no relief. He criticized what he termed a lack of empathy and responsiveness from political leaders, warning that continued silence in the face of suffering amounts to betrayal of public trust.

According to him, despite the cries of citizens echoing across the country, those in positions of authority appear largely unmoved. He declared a total disassociation from the APC, stressing that neither he, his family, nor any political structure under his leadership would continue to be affiliated with the party.

Explaining further his political stance, Ofoegbu noted that his decisions are guided by conscience and the need to stand on the side of the people, especially at a time when many Nigerians feel neglected.
