Onuigbo thanks God for fruitful 2025, expresses hope for better 2026
The atmosphere was that of thanksgiving, gratitude and reflection as the former lawmaker who represented Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Sam Onuigbo, his Wife Dame Pastor Princess Chinyete Onuigbo, their children, alongside other family members on the 28th of December 2025 gathered to return thanks to God for His faithfulness which resulted to numerous achievement and accomplishments all through the year of 2025.
The thanksgiving service, held at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Obuohia Obi-Ibere, in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, drew a large congregation of worshippers and dignitaries from within and outside the state, turning the historic church into a hub of fellowship and thanksgiving.
Delivering the homily, the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, emphasized the significance of gratitude, describing thanksgiving as a core principle of Christian living, as he commended the Onuigbo family for their conscious decision to publicly return thanks to God.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu who was among the eminent personalities that graced the occasion noted that the essence of gratitude cannot be overemphasized, adding that Onuigbo exemplifies that virtue.

Earlier in his address, as a demonstration of continued service to God, Onuigbo announced the family’s decision to rebuild and reconstruct St. Paul’s Methodist Church, describing the project as a commitment to sustaining the house of God.
Speaking with newsmen, Hon Onuigbo who currently represents the South-East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission noted that his appreciation and thanksgiving was borne out of deep reflection on God’s mercies upon his family.

The former lawmaker expressed strong optimism about the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, as he maintained that his conviction was based on the fact that the president had taken far-reaching decisions focused on repositioning the country for prosperity, growth and security.

The thanksgiving service was graced by several eminent personalities, including Senator Austin Akobundu (rtd), representing Abia Central Senatorial District; former Minister Chief Henry Ikoh; and former Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya.
Also present was the Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Prof Maduebibisi Ofor Iwe, the MD of Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, Prof Azubuike Onyebuchi, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, the former VC of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ebony State, Prof Chinedum Nwajiuba, as well as traditional rulers, clergymen, political associates, friends and well-wishers.
