College of Management Sciences MOUAU honours Onuigbo with Ambassador Plenipotentiary Award for helping to restore its long delisted courses
The member Representing Southeast at the North East Development Commission Sam Onuigbo has applauded President Bola Tinubu for the introduction of tax reform policy in the country, noting that through the introduction of the tax reform, the President has come up with an impactful policy that has a potential to reposition the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises and help the economy grow.
Onuigbo who made the call at the opening ceremony of the College of Management Sciences (COLMAS) Second International Hybrid Conference, held at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), described MSMEs as critical drivers in emerging economies, given their contribution to global market in relation to share of businesses, employment, significant impact on the environment and Gross Domestic Product.
The two-term lawmaker, who represented Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, in the 8th and 9th National Assembly, was a Guest Speaker at the event, and spoke on: “Innovation and Sustainability of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Emerging Economics”.
Onuigbo maintained that the recent tax reforms by President Tinubu were beneficial to the MSMEs and will eliminate multiple taxation as well as other challenges associated with the present tax regime.

In a remark, the Vice-Chancellor, MOUAU, Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe, represented by his Deputy (Academics), Prof. Nneoma Elechi, congratulated the Dean, staff and students of COLMAS for undertaking the laudable initiative.
Speaking earlier, the Dean of COLMAS, Umudike, Prof. Wilson Ani noted that for the first time, in the past 8 years, the college now has over 1,400 students in all the 7 departments, a feat he said would not have been possible without the dogged efforts of personalities like Onuigbo whom he said made spirited efforts in actualizing the restoration of delisted courses by the National Universities Commission NUC.
Also speaking, the former Dean of the college, Prof. John Ihedinihu, who presented an Ambassador Plenipotentiary Award to Onuigbo, in recognition of his “Exemplary Stewardship and Distinguished Leadership in Legislative Excellence, Climate Ombudsman, National Integration and COLMAS Programme Restoration”, appreciated Onuigbo for working selflessly to achieve the milestone.
