Mrs. Otti Welcomes First Baby of 2026 with Gifts, One Million Naira
Wife of Abia State governor, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, has welcomed the first baby of the new year 2026 at the Akirika Ukwu Primary Healthcare Centre, Ukwa West Local Government Area of the state.
Oluebubechi Nwatuobi Excessgrace, a girl was born at exactly 12:43 a.m. on January 1, 2026, weighing 3kg.
Mrs. Chidinma Otti presented the newborn and her mother with gifts and other essentials, including bags of rice, baby formula,cooking oil and sanitary wares. She also made a donation of One Million Naira, explaining that the gesture aims to support the mother’s nutrition and overall wellbeing through the nursing period.
The First Lady took liberty of the joyful moment to name the baby “Ihuoma,” praying that the child would grow in peace, grace, and favour.
Describing the birth as a joyful and symbolic beginning to the new year, Mrs. Otti noted that it reflects the steady improvement and functionality of Abia State’s primary healthcare system. She encouraged expectant and nursing mothers across the state to have confidence in government-owned health facilities and make proper use of them.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, commended Mrs. Otti for her consistent support of the health sector, highlighting her contributions in complementing the reforms of Governor Alex C. Otti in the health sector.
The Matron of the healthcare centre, Kasarachi Emmanuel, expressed gratitude to the First Lady for the visit and donations, describing them as timely and impactful.
Parents of the newborn, Mr. Nwatuobi Chiagozie and Mrs. Blessing Chinagozie, natives of Itungwa in Obingwa Local Government Area, thanked Mrs. Otti for her kind gesture and for making the birth of their daughter a memorable and extremely joyful experience.
