Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Comrade Osinachi Nwaka has described the successful rescue of the three Abia kidnapped children as a product of commitment and selfless leadership of the state Governor Alex Otti in restoring safety and security in the state which he tries to emulate in ensuring that it trickles down to Ikwuano LGA.

Gideon, aged 8; Divine, 6; and Israel, 4; all from Ikwuano, were abducted while returning home from school on May 10, 2024.

They were returning from school and reportedly had a stop-over in their grandmother’s house who engaged a motorcyclist to convey them home. But instead of taking them home, the devil-may-care motorcyclist decided to bolt away with the hapless kids.

Speaking as a guest on Family Love FM’s programme ‘Abia Trends” monitored by Dailytrailnews on the sidelines of the rescue operation which saw the collaboration of the police, officials of the Homeland Security in the state and other security agencies, Comrade Nwaka said the rescue unfolded in three stages, pointing out that he personally led the first operation in Ekwulobia, Anambra State.
