Gunmen kill three Policemen attached to Okowa’s Convoy en route to Abia

Three policemen attached to the Governor of Delta State and Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Ifeanyi Okowa, have been killed by some gunmen.

The assailants wasted the lives of the security officials when they attacked the Mr Okowa’s convoy in Anambra State.

The three security orderlies identified as Inspectors Lucky Aleh, Celestine Nwadiokwu and Jude Obuh of the Department of Explosive Ordinance Device (EoD) from the Delta State Police Command, Asaba, were shot dead on Friday in the Ihiala local government area of Anambra State on Mr Okowa’s way to Abia State for a political function.

The policemen were part of the advance team of the Governor to Abia State. They were killed by the hoodlums at about 1.30 pm, and their vehicle was set ablaze.

Quoting the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Anambra State Command, Mr Ikenga Tochukeu, SaharaReporters said the police confirmed the incident.

“We got distress calls, and we rushed to the scene of the incident.

“The policemen who were killed are from the Delta state command and were in transit at the time of the incident.

“But I can assure you that the state commissioner of police, Anambra, is very poised to bring to book the criminals behind the dastardly act,” the spokesman said.
