“Focus on delivering the promises you made to Abians, don’t resort to diversionary tactics, Abia APC group tells Otti

The Abia APC Renaissance Group says it has noted with serious concern what it calls “the secret meetings recently held by a faction of the Labour Party loyal to Governor Alex Otti”, where a decision was allegedly taken to stage a protest against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.

A statement signed by Comrade Udeagha Agbayi, for Abia APC Renaissance Group, and made available to Dailytrailnews said “the Alleged move is ill-motivated and also dangerous, adding that “the false claim that the Deputy Speaker intends to destabilise the peace in Abia State is both baseless and mischievous”.

The statement maintained that the Deputy Speaker’s only “offence,” was his call for the state government to show tangible results in line with the increased federal allocation which is absolutely, a fair and logical demand given the improved revenue from President Tinubu’s reforms.

According to the statement “it is now clear that the Abia State Government is angry simply because the President has refused to endorse its deceitful posturing with an official visit. It added that “this anger, now being redirected through this politically sponsored protest, is nothing but an act of desperation”.

The group in the statement called on “the security agencies to take note of what it described as “the dangerous plan and the grave implications it poses for peace and stability in Abia State”. According to the Abia APC Renaissance Group “No one should underestimate the capacity of such politically motivated agitation to inflame tensions”.

It maintained that “rather than wasting time plotting needless protests, the state government should focus on delivering the promises it made to Abians. Resorting to diversionary tactics will not silence genuine questions about performance and accountability”.

The statement stressed that”the Abia APC Renaissance Group is sending a direct message that the opposition in the state will not be intimidated into silence. We will continue to demand transparency and results”.

It further stated that “any attempt to stage such an ill-intentioned protest will be met with an even stronger counter-protest, where all supporters and lovers of Mr. President will mobilise in solidarity.

It concluded by saying that “the Abia APC Renaissance Group will not stand idly by while the peace and political stability of our state are threatened for what it calls “cheap propaganda”.
