Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu has called for strong support from political Stakeholders and Men of goodwill in Abia State to throw their weight behind him in his quest to sell the southeast project to the rest of the country stressing that he cannot do it alone.

Kalu who said this during a courtesy visit to a two time former Commissioner in the state Chief Charles Ogbonnaya and Members of the Umuahia Political Forum maintained that occupying an exalted position in the House of Reps and by extension the number 6 position in Nigeria demands that he has a strong support from his home base as this will further open up Abia and the Southeast at large for greater opportunities at the federal level.

The Bende Federal Constituency Representative used the avenue to call on Chief Ogbonnya who sometime in December 2023 announced his retirement from partisan politics to return back to politics and this time to his party the All Progressives Congress in order to help reposition the Umuahia political Forum, Abia political space and by extension the Southeast for what he described as immense benefits that lie ahead as he put the decision to a voice vote which was greeted by a thunderous affirmation by those present.
