The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has reaffirmed its readiness for the 2027 general elections, expressing strong confidence in its internal stability and growing appeal, while calling on political aspirants to take advantage of the limited window for party membership registration as stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking during the official unveiling of the APGA Mega State Party Secretariat in Umuahia, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, described APGA as the “healthiest political party” in the country, free from internal crises. He, however, frowned at the actions of politicians who abandon the party after achieving their ambitions on its platform, urging serious aspirants to join now that the registration window remains open.

Ehiemere also used the occasion to call on Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, to return to APGA, which he described as the governor’s “political home.” He warned that the Labour Party is currently plagued by internal crises that could jeopardize Otti’s chances of securing a second term in office.

In his remarks, the Abia State Chairman of APGA, Amb. Sunday Onukwubiri, stated that the era of politicians rushing into APGA as a fallback option after losing primaries in other parties is over. According to him, recent provisions in the Electoral Act have effectively put an end to such practices. He expressed satisfaction with the unveiling of the new state secretariat, describing it as a long-awaited milestone, and called for increased membership across the state.
