Abia Lawmaker Erondu Jnr. breaks record, empowers constituents in massive, mega empowerment program
It was indeed an outpour of immense joy and gratitude as the people of Obingwa West State Constituency on Saturday 31st of January 2026 witnessed an empowerment programme, that can be better described as first of its kind in the entire Obingwa LGA, carried out by a House of Assembly Member in the person of Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr.
The event which held at the Umuaro Civic Centre in Umuaro Community, Mgboko Umuanunu Ancient Kingdom, saw the physical presence of political leaders across party divides, traditional rulers, youth groups, women groups, and visibly excited constituents who came to witness an epoch moment of transformation in their lives.

Speaking at the event, the former governor of Abia state Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, was full of accolades for Erondu Jnr, as he described the empowerment as massive and live changing, calling on the beneficiaries to endevour to put to good use what they have received, so as to improve their standard of living.

Also speaking, a former Deputy Governor of Abia State and former federal commissioner Chris Akomas who appreciated Erondu Jnr, stressed that the Lawmaker has shown impressive capacity as he called on the beneficiaries never to allow the seed planted in them by Erondu to wither but to make it grow so that other can benefit through them.

Speaking, the man of the moment, Erondu Jnr. appreciated the former governor Ikpeazu whom he describing as a rare gem whose guidance and trust has shaped his political career. He also thanked the Uhie People’s Assembly, family and friends for their immense impact in making the day a reality, as he maintained that for him leadership is about service, which he said was exemplified in the empowerment programme.

On his part, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Raymond Aliga, described Hon. Erondu as a formidable representative who carries everyone along, noting that the empowerment transcended party affiliations. He further passed a vote of confidence on the Lawmaker, calling for his reelection.
In his goodwill message, the Mayor of Obingwa Local Government Area, Hon Maxwell Nwadike, described the empowerment as unprecedented, noting that the occasion had gone beyond party politics, urging the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items received.
Also speaking, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, urged beneficiaries to put the empowerment items to productive use and commended the lawmaker for his generosity, which he noted can be testified to by his colleagues.


Dailytrail news reports that the empowerment programme saw the distribution of items such as motorcycles, desktop computers, laptops, gasoline generators, car washing machines, spraying and vulcanizing machines, minibuses, trucks, tippers, cars, buses, over 20,000 assorted medical equipment, five dialysis machines, incubators for newborn babies, hospital beds and mattresses, university scholarships, free JAMB and WAEC registrations, female goats for widows, houses, and other critical support materials.
The event saw the presence of Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia state Elder Abraham Amah, the Abia South Chairman of the PDP, Hon Enyinnaya Apollos, former Imo state Governorship candidate and a former Chief of Staff Hon. Uche Nwosu who all described the scale of the empowerment as unprecedented and life changing.

The event also witnessed the presentation of an award of Excellence to Hon. Erondu Jnr. as the Champion of Grassroots Development and Empowerment by the Uhie People’s Assembly, presented by the Leader Chief Ezinwa Nkire Abiri.
