Abia APC: group withdraws support for Orji Kalu’s 2023 Senatorial bid

Some leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia North senatorial zone under the aegis of Concerned Abia North All Progrssive Congress, have withdrawn their support for the candidacy of Senator Orji Kalu in the coming 2023 election.

This was conveyed in a press statement signed by its Secretary, Kingsley Okorie and made available to journalists on Tuesday in Umuahia wherein the group accused the Chief Whip of the Senate of anti-party activities, lack of representation of the interests of the people of Abia North.

The group stated that the former governor is only campaigning for himself and his younger brother that is running for governor under APP.

They insisted that they will vote against Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, but will vote other APC candidates including High Chief Ikechi Emenike as they consequently, resolved to adopt and support Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the 2023 Senatorial election for Abia North.

Meanwhile, Maduka Okoro, Media Aide to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has described the Concerned Abia North All Progrssive Congress as a group of misguided folks saying his principal has never engaged in Anti-Party.

Speaking to Dailytrail in reaction to the announcement by the group that it has withdrawn support for the 2023 senatorial bid of the Senate Chief Whip, Okoro maintained that his principal as the leader of APC in the state is committed and loyal to supporting APC candidates at the polls.

The Media Aide to Senator Orji Kalu further stated the issue of who the authentic candidate of APC for the gubernatorial polls will be decided by the law courts.
